The advisor is also mandated to offer personalized advice to participants to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

How do I become an energy efficiency consultant?

The profession of energy advisor requires certain prerequisites.33 4 4

Before applying, it is important to have:

– Studies in a relevant discipline, e.g. building inspection, architecture, mechanical engineering, environment, etc.
– A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
– Comfortable using the Microsoft Office suite;
– Physical fitness.

As well as the following skills:

– Be professional and have a strong sense of customer service;
– Organizational skills and ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances;
– Positive attitude and team spirit;
– Be independent and resourceful.

Accompaniment and accreditation

Expertbâtiment offers a full-time, paid, in-house training program (4 to 6 weeks) that includes several days of coaching from a field consultant, administrative training and exam preparation with our team of passionate trainers!

Under the Rénoclimat program, the advisor must be accredited by Natural Resources Canada before being able to work independently in the field.
